Ponders Ltd is a specialised manufacturing and temperature controlled distribution house with cold/chiller rooms in multiple locations throughout the region. Ponders is an affiliate to Dembe Trading Enterprises Ltd- the largest FMCG Distribution House in East Africa. Ponders manufactures the ‘Snowman’s’ brand, Uganda’s number one Ice Cream and Yoghurt brand. Ponders acquired the struggling factory and Snowman’s brand from an existing player in 2011 and has managed to turn the brand around in a short space of time to be recognised regionally as a strong player in the frozen and chilled sector. Snowman’s Ice Cream is Uganda’s first and only UNBS (Uganda National Bureau of Standards) certified Ice Cream. The brand is now the No.1 frozen dairy brand in Uganda and the fastest growing frozen/chilled brand in East Africa. Ponders Ltd is also the largest cold chain distribution company in Uganda serving a market of over 3,000 customers. Ponders is currently constructing the largest cold-room facility in Uganda with an installed capacity set to exceed 3,000m2 of freezer/chiller space; for use by Ponders Ltd and also available for short term rental. Dembe and Ponders both use a variety of Cold Chain vehicles to transport the perishables around the region, and as a consequence have now become the largest fleet of purpose dedicated cold chain vehicles in Uganda. This ability to effectively combine Cold Chain with Mass Market FMCG Distribution is what makes the Company a multi-faceted leader in its field.
